This bakery sells famous Molokai bread, and donuts, rolls, best bread ever. Also is a restaurant, with breakfast, lunch. Good
Kanemitsu's is a Molokai standard - diner food and pastries, hot bread and taro donuts. Locals and visitors enjoy breakfast here... Try the fresh papaya specials and definitely the fried rice.
"So this is one of another good local spots to have breakfast or lunch. The food is good the staff is eco-friendly. But one of the main reason what's famous about this Place is there best selling "HOT BREAD"which is only available and purchased night time only ...all i can say is YOU GOTTA TRY IT especially when its freshly made right when you order it and ready to consume it. They have different Toppings you can choose from, My favorite one is the Blueberry cream cheese Jelly. So if your every on the Island just ask any local person this :Where Can I get your Famous Hot Bread"
Great meal in a true local place! Must try the Hot Bread!
Love the food here. The service is awesome. The late night warm bread is a must try.
First time on Molokai, and just for a couple of days. Had to make it to Kanemitsu's for the experience. Went there at about 8pm to get some fresh hot bread with the cinnamon/butter/cream cheese combo. Went up the alley on the right of the storefront, was lucky there wasn't a line at the time. The bread is so nice when its fresh!Next morning went for breakfast and got the French toast. It was a nice golden brown and it was delicious. Service was great and friendly. Would definitely recommend this place!
Love their breads, sweet breads and pastries. Totally recommend. At night, after 7:30pm, go to the back alleyway on the right of the bakery and walk until you see light. Order a hot bread with cream cheese and strawberry or guava. It is so good!
Had an amazing breakfast and fun seeing local crowd interact. The aunties and the uncles sitting and talking stories and laughs. Lots of laughs. If you want to experience island life it’s the best place to be.
Like others have said it's important to get here early if you want to get the best selection of breads and pastries. Of course you can come at any time they're open to get something to eat but there's nothing like coming back from Molokai with fresh bread from this bakery. My favor is a Molokai sweet bread followed in a close second by their traditional sourdough bread. I only wish that it would keep longer but that's what you get with a fresh product made like this.
The waitress wasnt friendly or helpful. I know everybody has their good days and bad days , but good customer service matters.
Kanemitsu is popular for their fresh warm bread (served with your selection of cream cheese or jam at night after 7:30pm). You can also stop by during the day for food and pastries. It’s popular with both visitors and locals, so it might take a few minutes to get service. Everything moves at Molokai pace here, and Kanemitsu is no exception. They have good breakfast options, and I loved their taro donuts. If you’re coming during daytime hours, It’s best to visit in the morning, as many of the fresh baked pastries sell out by late afternoon.
Great pastries, the eggs and kimchee fried rice is to die for. Highly recommended.
Kanemitsu makes some of the best bread! If you come during the day, come early before the selection is limited. Or, come back at night, around 730-8 pm, and you can get fresh, hot loaves with toppings like butter and cinnamon, strawberry, cream cheese. It is delicious.
The hot bread is sold from 7:30pm to 11pm around the corner and down the alley. They put your choice of condiments (made on the mainland and served out of huge tubs) like blueberry and cream cheese. The loaf of bread is round. 😋
Great breakfast and lunch place to eat.
We ate breakfast here the 1st full day we were in Molokai. Service was a little slow and not too busy but the food was delicious! The staff was friendly enough. We came back a few times to purchase their sweet bread from the bakery. We bought a loaf of pineapple coconut, (I think that was the flavor) and one other loaf a few days later. Bread did not disappoint! Would definitely eat here again!
Try the french toast combo, great deal for a big breakfast
Taro pancakes were excellent. Very friendly service.
Super yummy donuts. This place is popular with the community.
Friendly service and the food was good. I had two eggs, portugese sausage and fried rice. However if you have to use the bathroom it is located outside in the alley.
Waited an hour and 20 minutes for food. 1 waitress, one cook and when the food finally came 2 out of the 4 meals were not worth the wait. I give it 3 stars because the bakery should get 5 stars! The bread is so good and so we're the turnovers we had! GO HERE FOR THE BAKERY AND THE NICE PEOPLE! SKIP THE RESTAURANT.
Land mark of the famous Molokai hot bread. They have a little eaterie on the inside.Breakfast, lunch and dinner served. Food is good. Not a 5 star, but tasty. Service is personable, and welcoming. Favorite spot of the localsSo you know the food is good.Come and mingle with the locals you won't regret it.Don't forget to go home after your visit to Molokai.
I was excited to go to this place until I got there! We went in the afternoon so I'm sure it was pretty picked over. We ran in to get a goody and a cup of coffee and we're told that the restaurant closed at 1 and that's who serve the coffee. It honestly didn't look like a clean facility and I just decided not to get anything there. I'm sure their food is good but it just wasn't for me.
The hot bread at night is pretty bomb. I got four loaves of the strawberry with cream-cheese inside and it was great. Everyone I gave it to on Oahu the next day were stoked to get it, and it still tasted great. I can't wait to go back to Molokai one day and stay overnight.
Definitely a fan of their fresh baked breads. If your not as hungry for a huge loaf their dinner rolls are just as good especially when you want something small to snack on.
The Apple Crisp & Banana turnover were my favorite (So good!). The day old bag of treats is a great deal. Breakfast isn't bad either although can be a bit slow, but on an Island like Molokai that is the expectation. After 7:30pm if you walk down the sketchy looking alley on the right side of the building they serve "Night Bread" out of the back which is basically a loaf of sweet bread with various spreads inside. The experience was enjoyable but the bread itself was nothing spectacular.
Fried Rice Loco Moco! Hand made patties- none of that Frozen stuff! Real brown gravy from pan drippings- so 'ONO! Aunty at the bakery counter let us sample a poi donut- oh my goodness! So many reasons to eat here- not to forget their famous hot bread that you no longer have to wait til midnight for- starts at 7pm now except Monday
Make sure you stay past 7:30, 8:00pm to get the sweet bread!
Excellent breakfast and bakery however terribly rude customer service when a problem occurs We waiting nearly an hour for breakfast which turned up cold and without cutlery. The staff were totally aggressive and didn't seem to see the problem and did nothing to solve the situation. My suggestion is to buy from the bakery and eat on the benches outside.
They made me a vegan option of rice and stir fried veggies — Mahalo! This photo is my friend’s taro pancake and she loved it
Great bakery and deli, go to the back door at night 7pm for fresh hot bread, choose your topping.Freakin awesome
The Best Bakery I have been too in many years. Excellent Service
Great people, food is good. Serve a bit slow. Not sure if it was because it was a Sunday but, waited over an hour for meal. No one came by to refill water. Had to go ask. Had to ask 3 times for the order of fries. Would have given more stars if they weren't so slow.
Kim Chee fried rice with corned beef hash was amazing. If you plan on picking up the world famous bread with filling you need yo call one day on advance. Only the regular bread and rasin bread is available.
Yummy.... great French toast and fantastic bread selections
Decent selection of breakfast and lunch options. The loco moko and short stacks were great for breakfast.
They have a pastry called an apple log. It's a pastry rolled and filled with an apple filing. It's then covered with what I believe is cinnamon and brown sugar then baked to perfection I don't even like cooked apple. I don't like apple pie, turn overs or anything apple, but I brought 2 home.
I had breakfast here 4 of the 5 days I was on Moloka’i and it seemed to get better everyday!! Wonderful people, and the best eggs I’ve ever had!!
We heard so many cool reviews about this place. We went on a day tour to Molokai, so we were there in the afternoon. We wanted to buy the famous bread, but the offerings were slim.
Love the hot bread at night. One of my favourite memories from the island :)
THE place for a great breakfast on Molokai! The French toast was fabulous - had it both days we were on the island in February 2019.
Great taro pancakes.
What else is there to say but Molokai Bread (cinnamon)! The girls at the counter were happy helpful and fun! Don't forget Hot Bakery! Mahalo!!
Been coming here ever since i was a kid. Love the food and the kind hearted people. They are like family!
French toast combo with fresh papaya and Portuguese sausage is awesome to try and they have fresh bread and pastries
Good atmosphere and great food to go along with the reasonable prices. Many things to choose from the bakery and don't forget to get your Molokai hot bread at night!
Famous for Molokai Hot Bread! I highly recommend the French toast breakfast special!
Great service! The food was okay. The kalbi was alright, not worth the price.
The breakfast was delicious and the donuts that they make with poi were the best donuts I've ever had! If you go here you have to try the Moco Loco which is 2 burger patties with 2 eggs covered in brown gravy and a mountain of friend rice. It was very filling to say the least! The staff was all smiles and very friendly.
Great donuts, especially the taro donut. The other baked are not bad, but not as good s the donuts
